Ralph Forbes (30 September 1896 -- 31 March 1951) was an English actor in the American cinema. He was also a noted stage actor. He was the son of actress Mary Forbes and brother of actress Brenda Forbes. In addition to 1896 various years are given for his year of birth ie 1902 & 1905. If born in 1896 his mother would have been between 13 and 17 years old.

Forbes was born Ralph Taylor in London, England.

He met with an accident on the football field at Denstone College, Staffordshire that resulted in a scar on his cheek. Unusually, he started off in films, then went on stage. In America he played on stage with Ruth Chatterton who was to become his first wife.

He married three times, first to actress Ruth Chatterton from 1924 to 1932, then married actress Heather Angel in 1934, and finally married actress Dora Sayers in 1946.

Reputedly, Forbes was one of J.C. Leyendecker's models for the Arrow Collar Man ads for Cluett, Peabody and Co.'s brand of shirts and detachable shirt collars.

His last years were given to working on the Broadway stage. One of his last stage appearance was in a revival of George Bernard Shaw's You Never Can Tell in 1948.

He died in New York City, aged 54.

Marion Shilling (December 3, 1910 — November 6, 2004) was an American film actress of the 1930s.

Shilling was born as Marion Schilling in Denver, Colorado in 1910 as per the Social Security Death Index under the name COOK, MARION S., although some biographers had formerly cited 1911 or 1914. She started her acting career as a stage actress, starring in stage plays such as Miss Lulu Betts and Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. In 1929 she received her first screen role in Wise Girls. After a couple of roles in other films, she starred opposite William Powell in the 1930 crime drama Shadow of the Law. That movie springboarded her into roles as a B-movie heroine.

In 1931 she was one of thirteen girls selected as "WAMPAS Baby Stars", a list that included future Hollywood star Marian Marsh. From 1930 to 1936 she starred in forty two films, mostly westerns or mysteries. She often starred opposite Tom Keene and Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. In the 1934 film serial The Red Rider, she starred opposite early western film legend Buck Jones, with a supporting cast that included William Desmond and football legend Jim Thorpe. Shilling would later say that she enjoyed working with Jones, finding him to be an "exceptionally good actor who always tried to be a perfectionist and always demanded the best from his co-workers."

Malcolm McGregor (13 October 1892 -- 29 April 1945) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in 55 films between 1922 and 1936. He was born in Newark, New Jersey and died in Hollywood, California.

A cross between Wallace Reid and Rudolph Valentino, McGregor, with slick-back hair, starred as the young whaling captain in a film version of Ben Ames Williams' All the Brothers Were Valiant (1923), perhaps the highlight of a busy career that mostly found the handsome, clean-cut actor supporting such glamorous female stars as Corinne Griffith, Florence Vidor, and Evelyn Brent. Like so many of his contemporaries, McGregor's career quickly waned after the changeover to sound and he was reduced to playing second fiddle to Bela Lugosi in the Mascot serial The Whispering Shadow (1932). McGregor retired after playing a gangster in a low-budget screen version of radio's Special Agent K-7 (1937). McGregor reportedly died from burns suffered in an accident in his Hollywood home.
